CFIN was established in 2008 with the purpose of developing digital forensics examiners and cyber security experts.  We have since then certified members working in the Judiciary, Nigeria Police Force and other Law-enforcement Agencies, Anti-corruption Agencies, Military, Intelligence and Security Agencies, the academics, Banking and Financial Institutions, and those working as investigators, prosecutors, defense lawyers, administrators, auditors, accountants, private sector individuals and consultants.

Certified Forensics Examiners specialize in the detection, investigation and prevention of digital and computer crimes, We also support Law-enforcement Agencies, Judiciary, Prosecutors and Defense Counsels by skillful handling of digital evidence in both cybercrime and terrestrial crimes..
Digital forensics is a new and fast growing profession.  It can be defined as the science of acquiring, preserving, examining, analyzing, reporting and presenting digital evidence in a manner that is legally acceptable in a court of law or an administrative panel of inquiry.  It is processing of digital or electronic data into digital or electronic evidence through the use of the forensic science methodologies of digital or computer forensics.  We apply forensic science and technology to solve crimes.  

The field is open to all who are prepared to abide by the Professional Code of Ethics of the profession and who have no criminal record.  This website was developed to provide you with enough information about the Institute and how you can benefit from certification program and its other activities for members.

Chartered Institute of Computer Forensics of Nigeria  (CICFON) Bill passes Second Reading.
Public Hearing:  Tuesday, 26th October 2021   

We are pleased to inform all our Fellows, professional Members, students and partners, and the general public that our Bill at the National Assembly titled:  "A Bill for an Act to Establish the Chartered Institute of Computer Forensics of Nigeria and For Other Related Matters, 2021 (HB.1491)" has passed the Second Reading on 22nd September 2021.

The PUBLIC HEARING has been scheduled for Tuesday, 26th October 2021, at the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja, FCT, Nigeria.

We look forward to seeing you at the Public Hearing.

To become a member of CFIN, a candidate must take the following steps:
1. Obtain a CFIN Membership Application Form.  To download the form, click here.
2. Pay the Application form fee as explained in the Application Form.
3. Register for the Digital Forensics Certification Course.  For further information and registration, click here.
4. After completing the course and passing its final examination, you can apply to the Certification Board of CFIN with your Certificate for CFIN Certification for the MCFI designation.
5. Following the approval of your application for Professional Membership, you will be invited for an Induction Ceremony.
6. Attend the Induction Ceremony for new Professional Members.
7.  Swear to an Oath of Professional Ethics at the Induction Ceremony.
8.  Obtain your Professional Membership Certification and the MCFI designation.
9.  Pay your annual membership fee annually.
